Effective Leadership Program 2021: Leadership in Nigeria: Prospect and Challenges

In January 2021, the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE) hosted an impactful Effective Leadership Program in Owerri, themed “Leadership in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges.” With 100 passionate and driven participants in attendance, the event provided a powerful platform to explore the evolving leadership landscape in Nigeria — spotlighting both its promising opportunities and the pressing challenges that leaders face.

The program emphasized the critical role of ethical, visionary leadership in driving sustainable development and social transformation. Attendees engaged in thought-provoking sessions led by seasoned leaders, where they discussed Nigeria’s leadership gaps and brainstormed innovative ways to address systemic issues like corruption, inequality, and ineffective governance.

A key highlight of the program was the selection of 24 youths for 12 months leadership training. These trainees were further inducted into CSAAE’s exclusive mentorship network — a lifelong support system designed to nurture emerging leaders as they pursue their diverse goals. This network connects participants with experienced mentors who guide them through personal, professional, and leadership development, ensuring they stay on track towards making a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

CSAAE remains committed to empowering the next generation of African leaders by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and ethical foundation required to lead with integrity and inspire positive change. The 2021 Effective Leadership Program stands as a testament to this mission, leaving a lasting mark on the participants and the future they are determined to build.
