
Cybersecurity, Data Protection and Best Practices in Financial Lawmaking for Nigerian Legislators
Introduction
In the light of the rising cyber-attacks in the financial sector, CSAAE’s Ethics and Good Governance Department is
organizing a 2-day training workshop for Nigerian Legislators on:
Theme: Cybersecurity, Data Protection and Best Practices in Financial Lawmaking
Aim:
The overarching aim of this training workshop is to equip lawmakers with the requisite knowledge to make laws
that effectively address the rising cyber threats in the financial sector
Training Modules:
- Cybersecurity and the Financial Sector: This module will expose lawmakers to the various forms of cyber threats in the financial sector and introduce them to the cutting-edge tools and strategies that may be deployed to safeguard the financial sector from these attacks.
- Data Privacy and the Financial Sector: This module will explain in detail what constitutes data privacy in general and in the financial sector; what constitutes data breach in general and in the financial sector; the various ways that data may be breached in the financial sector and how these can be prevented
- Strengthening Legislative Oversight of the Financial Sector in the Light of Rising Cyber Threats: This module will explore ways that lawmakers can make effective policies to protect citizens and the financial institutions from cyber-attacks and data breach.
Participants: Select Nigerian Legislators and legislative aides.
